Here are the events held throughout the year:

May 9, 2012 – Emerging Issues in International Humanitarian Law – Ilario Maiolo, Senior Legal Advisor, Canadian Red Cross

Ilario Maiolo discussed a number of the emerging trends and challenges in contemporary international humanitarian law and specifically dealing with the issues of cyber warfare and the legal issues surrounding international humanitarian law in conflicts within the borders of a single jurisdiction.

June 26, 2012 – Anti‐Corruption Policy: Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act – George Derwin, Manitoba Hydro International Ltd.; L. Bryce Jatto, University of Manitoba Faculty of Law

George Derwin and Bryce Jatto discussed the draft legislation under consideration by Parliament which will strengthen Canada’s anti‐corruption laws and make it easier to enforce the Corruption of the Foreign Public Officials Act against Canadian organizations and individuals carrying on business outside of Canada by claiming nationality jurisdiction. They also discussed the need for Canadian companies which do business abroad to strengthen their anti‐corruption policies.
