Criminal Justice Section Report 2013-2014

All practicing lawyers in Manitoba must now report their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to the Law Society of Manitoba on an annual basis. In 2011, it was recommended that lawyers complete 12 hours of CPD activities. As of 2012, lawyers are now required to complete 12 hours of CPD activities, which must include 1.5 hours of CPD related to Ethics, Professional Responsibility or Practice Management (EPPM).

Transportation Law Section Report 2012‐2013

This year marked success in a long‐running initiative of the Section and MBA Council: passage of legislation to bring the Cape Town Convention into force in Manitoba.    Cape Town provides an International Registry to record leases and security interests in certain aircraft and aircraft engines.  This is important legislation for the aviation and aerospace industries

Women Lawyers' Forum Report 2013-2014

The Women's Lawyers' Forum is the connecting point for women in the legal profession. Through the inter-lacing of the social and the professional, the Women Lawyers' Forum provides an opportunity for women in the law to meet to talk and get to know each other better, for personal and professional benefit. The Forum organizes several events each year where women can engage, relax, and enjoy the company of other women who share the law as a common thread.
