The following guidelines are intended to complement the rules, and contain the procedures for the recruitment of articling students in Winnipeg within the context of the rules. T

A couple of highlights during the past year for our Section included the Lawyers in the Media: Sound‐  bytes and Pitfalls, panel presentation moderated by your Chair with presentations from Jonathan Kroft, Robert Tapper, Geoff Kirbyson (Free Press and Lawyers Weekly), William McDowell (Lenczners Toronto) and media consultant John Douglas.

This year marked success in a long‐running initiative of the Section and MBA Council: passage of legislation to bring the Cape Town Convention into force in Manitoba.    Cape Town provides an International Registry to record leases and security interests in certain aircraft and aircraft engines.  This is important legislation for the aviation and aerospace industries

The Women's Lawyers' Forum is the connecting point for women in the legal profession. Through the inter-lacing of the social and the professional, the Women Lawyers' Forum provides an opportunity for women in the law to meet to talk and get to know each other better, for personal and professional benefit. The Forum organizes several events each year where women can engage, relax, and enjoy the company of other women who share the law as a common thread.

The Executive of the Manitoba Construction Law Section operates on a rotating system for officers and the succession of the same took place in the spring of 2013.

We have been asked to provide an annual report in respect of the activities of the Manitoba Bar Association's (“MBA”) Technology and Intellectual Property Law Section (the "Tech & IP Section") for the 2013 - 2014 programming year.

Meetings: Section meets once per month from September to May

This year, the Section executive (Co‐Chairs Darla Rettie and Catherine Skinner, Vice‐Chair Cynthia Lau and Member‐at‐Large Vivian Hilder) planned and offered three sessions targeting various practice areas across the public and private bar.

The Young Lawyers Section of the Manitoba Bar Association kicked off its 2013-2014 year with its annual Wine and Cheese reception in September 2013.
