GENERAL COUNSEL / IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL TERM OR FRACTIONAL POSITION

Location: 385 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba / Hybrid
Part time | 13-21 hours per week or term January 2026 until April 2027

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented lawyer to fill a term position or work part-time to support our studio’s corporate functions.

The General Counsel / In-house Legal Counsel will be responsible for contract management, corporate governance, and labour and employment administration. This role includes:

• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing all contracts with sub-consultants, clients, and other stakeholders;

• Providing notarial services, including sealing and witnessing statutory declarations as needed;

• Coordinating, preparing, and filing all corporate annual returns and related governance documents for the firm and related companies across Canada, including communicating with attorneys for service in other jurisdictions;

• Drafting all employment agreements, and supporting the team with new hire onboarding, including managing a variety of HR-related administrative tasks;

• Providing legal advice and memoranda about miscellaneous employment matters;

• Acting as primary contact for all insurance related matters, including Workers Compensation

  across all Canadian jurisdictions; and

• Working closely with Founder CEO, Marketing, and Accounting teams.

Preference will be given to highly organized and focused individuals with excellent attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A J.D. degree (or equivalent), and be a Member of the Manitoba Bar, or ability to transfer from another Canadian jurisdiction.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience of relevant legal work (law firm, in-house, regulatory body).

• Experience in the architectural/engineering/design industry is not necessary but would be considered an asset.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, drafting, editing, and proofreading skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
