We are currently seeking a highly organized, results-oriented professional to join our team as Litigation Counsel - Civil/Commercial. Working on a variety of challenging and complex litigation cases, the successful candidate will be a resourceful team-player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. What you'll do:
Serve as primary internal legal contact on all disputes and legal claims.
Provide preliminary strategic advice, drafting of correspondence and oversight of any proceedings as they progress.
Work closely and directly with a broad range of internal clients in our various business lines and serve as a key trusted advisor.
Interact directly with opposing counsel, regulatory bodies and other external third parties.
Oversee and manage external counsel, ensuring high-quality legal services, cost efficiency, and alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Remain current on key relevant areas of law that may impact litigation risk and work with appropriate internal resources to identify any risk mitigation opportunities.
What you’ll need:
Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Manitoba.
Minimum 5+ years of legal experience with a litigation background.
Self-motivated with a desire to work both independently and in a cooperative team environment.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence.
Highly focused with attention to detail.
Strong drafting, legal and written communication skills with a practical solution-oriented approach.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with experience resolving complex problems.
Superior organizational and time management skills with experience addressing multiple projects at once.
