PROVINCIAL COURT JUDGE

The Judicial Appointment Committee welcomes the interest of qualified persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the Bench of The Provincial Court of Manitoba.  This is a second call for one position to be filled in the Brandon Centre.  Those candidates who have submitted an application for this position need not re-submit their application.   

The mandate of the Judicial Appointment Committee is to assess the professional excellence, community awareness and personal suitability of candidates.  The Committee is specifically seeking to receive applications for candidates that reflect the diversity of Manitoba as required by The Provincial Court Act C.C.S.M c. C275.  

Applicants must have practised for not less than five (5) years as a barrister and solicitor in Manitoba, be a member in good standing of The Law Society of Manitoba, be entitled to practise as a barrister and solicitor in this province, or have other equivalent experience and complete an Undertaking or Confirmation respecting continuing legal education as contemplated by Section 3(2)(d) of The Provincial Court Act, C.C.S.M c. C275.

Applicants must be willing to reside in the judicial centre of appointment and be capable of and willing to travel by automobile and small aircraft to circuit courts throughout the province. 

Judicial responsibilities will include a caseload of criminal cases and child protection matters as well as family law. The successful applicant will be subject to screening checks.

It is the responsibility of the Judicial Appointment Committee to provide the Minister of Justice with a list of candidates and indicate whether such candidates are recommended or not recommended for appointments.

•      Consent to the Disclosure and Verification for Screening Checks;

•      Law Society of Manitoba Authorization for Disclosure of Information Concerning Candidate;

•      Undertaking or Confirmation; and

•      A brief summary of your background and qualifications, not to exceed 30 words.

Le Comité de nomination judiciaire accueille l'intérêt des personnes qualifiées souhaitant être considérées pour une nomination au sein de la Cour provinciale du Manitoba. Il s'agit d'un deuxième appel pour pourvoir un poste au Centre de Brandon. Les candidats qui ont déjà soumis une candidature pour ce poste n'ont pas besoin de la soumettre à nouveau.

Le mandat du Comité de nomination judiciaire est d’évaluer l’excellence professionnelle, la conscience communautaire et l’aptitude personnelle des candidats. Le Comité cherche particulièrement à recevoir des candidatures de personnes qui reflètent la diversité du Manitoba, comme l’exige la Loi sur la Cour provinciale C.C.S.M c. C275.

Les candidats doivent avoir exercé pendant au moins cinq (5) ans comme avocat et procureur au Manitoba, être membre en règle du Barreau du Manitoba, avoir le droit de pratiquer comme avocat et procureur dans cette province, ou posséder une autre expérience équivalente et compléter un Engagement ou une Confirmation concernant la formation juridique continue comme prévu à l'article 3(2)(d) de la Loi sur la Cour provinciale, C.C.S.M c. C275.

Les candidats doivent être prêts à vivre dans le centre judiciaire de leur affectation et être capables et disposés à se déplacer en voiture et en petit avion pour se rendre aux tribunaux itinérants à travers la province.

Les responsabilités judiciaires incluront un volume de dossiers criminels et de protection de l'enfance ainsi que le droit de la famille. La personne retenue fera l'objet de vérifications de sécurité.

C'est la responsabilité du Comité de nomination judiciaire de fournir au ministre de la Justice une liste de candidats et d'indiquer si ces candidats sont recommandés ou non pour des nominations.

• Consentement à la divulgation et à la vérification aux fins des enquêtes de filtrage;

• Bref résumé de votre expérience et de vos qualifications d’un maximum de 30 mots.
