Construction & Infrastructure Law Section Report 2015-2016 The Manitoba Construction & Infrastructure Law section had no formal S ection activity this year, but was well represented at the National Construction & Infrastructure Law Section’s 2016 workshop and conference in Banff, Alberta, as well as the ½ day CPD program on Builders’ Liens presented by the Law Society of Manitoba in April, 2016.

Construction and Infrastructure Law Section Report 2014‐2015

The Executive of the Construction and Infrastructure Law Subsection operates on a rotating system for officers and the succession of the same took place in the spring of 2014. Nicole Hamilton (previous Vice‐ Chair) moved into the position of Chair; Tom Turner (previous Chair) moved into the position of Past‐ Chair. At a meeting subsequently held in October, 2014, Daryl Chicoine became the Subsection Vice‐ Chair and James Wishart became the Secretary.

The Construction Law Section held its annual meeting in February, 2012.   The meeting included a review of recent National and Local cases that are important to practicing Construction Law in Manitoba.

This year the local Section held one meeting, which was a case law review of notable Manitoba and Supreme Court of Canada decisions relating to the Construction Law area.  The Section expressed some interest in having a similar meeting on an annual basis, as well as additional meetings when interesting topics or developments arise that are not already being covered by other MBA Sections.
